VITAL DEVELOPMENT CAMPAIGN
Accessible prevention should not depend on sight, hearing, or one way of learning.
HopeWorks VITAL is developing accessibility-centered prevention for children and youth who benefit from communication, cognitive, sensory, learning, mobility, or other supports—and for the adults and organizations responsible for their safety. This campaign will help turn VITAL’s framework into practical learning modules and accessible materials.
What this campaign will fund
Accessible learning modules
Develop and adapt prevention content using clear language, structured teaching, visual supports, accessible digital layouts, caregiver guidance, and multiple ways for learners to understand and respond.
Signed-language access
Produce initial modules with American Sign Language access, qualified interpretation or translation, Deaf-informed review, captions, transcripts, and accessible presentation design. Additional signed languages will require local linguistic and cultural adaptation.
Braille and accessible print
Create professionally transcribed and proofread Braille editions, large-print companion materials, accessible document files, and print formats designed for practical use by learners, caregivers, educators, and partner organizations.
How development will proceed
- Content and safeguarding review: define learning objectives, age and developmental considerations, role boundaries, and safer-response guidance.
- Accessibility adaptation: work with qualified specialists and people with relevant lived and professional experience to adapt content and delivery.
- Pilot testing and quality assurance: review comprehension, usability, language access, Braille accuracy, captions, transcripts, and facilitator guidance before wider release.
- Production and distribution: complete approved video, digital, Braille, large-print, and facilitator materials and make them available through appropriate HopeWorks channels and partnerships.
Why this work matters
A standard prevention presentation is not accessible to every learner. When information about boundaries, online contact, trusted adults, help-seeking, and disclosure is not presented in a usable format, children can be excluded from the very education intended to strengthen safety. VITAL is designed to reduce that access gap without creating a separate or lower standard of protection.
Scope and accountability
Contributions will support curriculum development, accessibility consultation, translation and interpretation, captioning and transcription, Braille production, printing, pilot review, and distribution. The number and sequence of modules produced will depend on available funding, qualified partners, and accessibility review. HopeWorks Global will report progress without disclosing information about individual children or families.
